Hoven Farms use regenerative farming methods on our land to build up and rejuvenate our soils, raise healthy animals and grow better food for human beings.

We believe that grass-finished beef is amazing food and an amazing tool that is the only solution for solving climate change and desertification.  We have had scientists and filmmakers on our land looking and exploring what we do.

Our split-half beef freezer packs are grass-fed, grass-finished, and certified organic. 

What is a split half beef?  A split half beef is half the meat in a side of beef, cut, wrapped, frozen, and delivered to toCalgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, and other locations.

How much meat ends up in your freezer depends on how big the carcass was. You will end up with about 65% of the carcass weight as meat in your freezer.

With an average split half, you will receive about 80-100 lb of beef in your freezer.

We are unable to customize split-half beef orders.  If you wish to customize your cutting instructions, you need to choose a half beef or whole beef.

How your Split Half Beef will be Cut:

Roasts
Cross Rib – 3lb roasts
Sirloin Tip – 3lb roasts
Rump – 3lb roasts
Chuck – 3 lb roasts
Briskets - cut in half and 1 in each half
eye of round roasts please cut in ½ so each split half gets 1 eye of round roast

Steaks - 1 inch thick
Tenderloin – 2 steaks per pack
New York Strip – 2 steaks per pack
Boneless Sirloin – 2 steaks per pack
Ribeye – 2 steaks per pack
Back ribs
Boneless Round – 2 steaks per pack

Stew Meat - 5 lbs in 1 lb pack
Short Ribs -3 piece per pack
Liver sliced in 1 lb packages
Lean Ground Beef in 1 lb vacuum sealed packs
Stir Fry Beef – 4 lbs in 1 lb packs

Meaty bones in 5 lb bags.
Marrow bones cut into 2-inch lengths

Costs:  Hoven Farms charges $4.54/lb on the carcass plus the processing charges for the cutting, wrapping, and freezing.  The processing charges will be approximately $1.20/lb plus any additional processing charges.  These charges will be added to your invoice. This will make a split-half cost approximately $700-900 depending on the size of the carcass.

We ask that you pay for your deposit today.  After we confirm the day and time of delivery, you will be sent an invoice for the remainder of the cost of the whole beef that will need to be paid the day of the delivery.
